Llama pulled a thread and found himself in Great Sand

Day 5 of the 6 day road trip to Southern Colorado was driving the Silver Thread, one of Colorado’s scenic byways, to Great Sand Dunes NP. The Silver Thread runs Gunnison to Creede. This drive is stunning, winding through ancient Ute lands that are now mainly BLM and National Reserves. Llama does have a pro tip though, try not to plan your drive at 10 am on the 4th of July or you just may find yourself “watching” a parade as it moves along the only road in town.

We did not hike the dunes this trip but enjoyed the view and visiting the small but interesting visitor center.
